Co-Founder

Helen Aristar-Dry is co-founder (with Anthony Aristar) of LINGUIST List. Her early research focused on Linguistic Stylistics, Pragmatics, and Discourse Analysis; but her recent work is primarily concerned with language technology. She is the co-editor (with John Lawler) of Using Computers in Linguistics (Routledge, 1997); and she has been Principal Investigator on 12 National Science Foundation sponsored projects designed to build computational infrastructure for the discipline. One of these was E-MELD (Electronic Metastructure for Endangered Languages Data), a 5-year project designed to develop standards for digital archiving of language resources.
